The garlic has been weeded for the last time, and now will begin to send the remainder of the stored energy in the green leaves to the bulb underground. Over the next month the browning of the leaves will commence and when the leaves are about 75% yellow and brown, it will be pulled and cured. To me this is one of the highlights of the year. The garlic was planted in October and shivered through the winter, only to emerge early in the spring and then harvested in the early summer. It is one of a few 4 season crops. A very special plant.
